Summer season is all about skin maintenance.
It is not the time to do intensive treatments that can compete with sun damage, but rather protect your skin from the sun’s intense rays. Plus with all the sweating I do, I choose products that complement that dewy look rather than fight it (aka cream blush and shadow!)
The theme for my favorite summer products:
- Protect from sun damage
- Balance out the sweat
- Hydrate inside and out
Beautycounter’s skincare and makeup are by far my favorite beauty products for all the seasons: I layer on heavier moisturizers and oils in the winter, and stick to the basics of a day cream + SPF in the summertime. I also love their focus on cream products in the last few years – cream blush is so easy to put on and matches the flushed look of summer heat. Plus they have 60 day free returns, so you might as well try something new!

12 Beautycounter Summer Essentials
Here are my favorite products that are perfect for the warm weather ahead!
This is the best facial sunscreen I have ever used. I seriously think every single person should have a bottle. It’s the perfect sunscreen to wear daily under makeup and doesn’t have any white cast at all and isn’t greasy after it sinks in. It’s sheer, as its name indicates, and provides coverage against UVA, UVB, and blue light rays. Using SPF daily is your biggest protector against signs of aging (including fine lines). There’s also vitamin E for antioxidant protection from environmental stressors.
This is the daytime friend of the fan favorite Overnight Resurfacing Peel, and it’s designed to brighten and even skin tone. Not only does it work to fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation, but it actually inhibits melanin synthesis to prevent dark spots from appearing. Vitamin C can degrade quickly in beauty products, and Beautycounter has been working for years to develop this combination of two forms of vitamin C in a super stable formulation that actually delivers results.
This no fuss tinted moisturizer is must-have for summer. It’s also my desert island product because it ticks so many boxes as once as a multitasker. It’s a moisturizer with light coverage and sunscreen (SPF 20) all in one. It gives a dewy luminous finish and now comes in 8 flexible shades for all skin tones (I wear shade 3 for reference). I put this on first thing in the morning all summer long, while I typically save my Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation with more coverage for the fall and winter months and going out. The ingredient list includes vitamin C, black currant seed oil, and peony root extract to help even skin tone and enhance radiance over time.
While I love my Countertime moisturizers, then Countermatch lotion is much lighter so it’s ideal for summer. It adapts to the skin throughout the day so there is less oily buildup when you’re sweating your face off. Not only does it provide up to 24-hours of hydration — it offers the essential building blocks of hydration, nutrition, and oxygenation with squalane that draws in moisture, plum oil that delivers nutrients, and phytic acid for gentle exfoliation.
To keep makeup from sweating off on a scorching hot day, apply the Glow First Priming Serum under your Dew Skin or foundation. 4,000 encapsulated jojoba ester bubbles are suspended in a tripeptide-infused gel-serum. This potent, skin-loving primer-serum combo has the complexion-improving results of a serum with the makeup-extending power of a primer.
Both the cream blush and cream shadows pair so well the Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer. You know when you get out of the shower and can’t stop sweating? These are so much easier to swipe on than powders! Both the blush and cream shadows add the prettiest highlight for a natural summer glow. My favorite shades are Cider and Chai for blush and Aura for shadow.
Beautycounter’s sunscreen was the first product that got me hooked on the idea of using safer products for me and my family. This is a spray-on zinc-based formula that you do have to rub in, but the spray distributes a mist across your arms, legs, and back so that it’s super fast and easy to rub in. It also has a dryer texture, so your hands aren’t greasy after. I use the mist all of over my body and sometimes on kids’ legs or backs if they don’t wear a rash guard. Plus, it’s a non-aerosol spray – thumbs up. The mist is water resistant for up to 80 minutes, so it’s a great choice for the pool and beach. You can read my full review of Beautycounter’s safer sun care line here.
A must have for shorts season! Gently polish away dull skin and reveal a healthy-looking glow with this smoothing body polish. With a revitalizing lemongrass scent (heaven!), this formula features organic, finely milled sugar to exfoliate, and sweet almond oil to hydrate and soften skin.
- If you’re looking to refresh your face after a week at the beach or too much sunscreen build-up, the AHA mask would be a great once-a-week addition for the warmer months.
If you are landlocked this summer, this luxurious body balm will transport you to the beach instantly – it has one of the most divine scents I’ve ever smelled. Of all the various clean body care products that Beautycounter offers, the Melting Body Balm has to be one of my absolute favorites. The balm is not your ordinary body lotion (if that’s what you’re looking for, I recommend the Hydrating Body Lotion in Bright Grapefruit). This balm is the cure for any dry skin woes, especially after a week at the beach. Much more than a moisturizer, it magically transforms into an oil as it melts into the skin, leaving you with a healthy-looking glow. You can read my full review here.
10. The Clean Deo
The Clean Deo has stood up to the test during vigorous soccer soccer games and long days at the beach – all the sweaty places. While I have tried several other clean deodorants, this one is a definitely a favorite. The best scent is by far the coconut, but they are all lovely. You can read all about the innovate formula and my full review here.
The new Mighty Plump Water Cream is great for summer too. It’s not too heavy for daytime and thirsty dehydrated skin drinks up the weightless water formula. This creams works to improve the skin barrier for plumper-looking skin while reducing fine lines and leaves skin feeling refreshed with a luxurious, velvety texture. Scented with a blend of crisp water fruits, sea salt, and delicate violet leaf, it also smells delicious!
This product benefits anyone wanting to brighten skin discoloration or stubborn dark spots, including marks that may result from blemishes or sun spots. Formulated with a BrighterTone Complex—a blend of ethylated ascorbic acid (one of the most stable vitamin C derivatives), niacinamide, and pomegranate extract—this ultra-potent treatment step helps promote an overall radiant complexion.
If you only get 3 things:
I would recommend starting with these three that will make the most difference in any routine:
- Overnight Resurfacing Peel – Great for all skin types, even sensitive ones when used twice a week. 15 botanically-derived acids resurface your skin without causing irritation – it’s gentle, yet effective! Put it on after cleansing at night and follow with a good night cream.
- Countertime Supreme Cream – Like this one! The Countertime night cream is everything you’d want in an anti-aging product. It has a safer yet powerful alternative to retinol and delivers uber hydration all night long. You can still feel it in the morning.
- Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer – the best multitasking product we have and my personal favorite. It’s a day-time moisturizer, SPF, and a light coverage to even your skin all in one. I also love the scent!
- Bonus: the Mighty Plump Water Cream. It’s just so good!!
You don’t have to spend $1,000 on “kit” or recruit anyone to a team. You’ll probably want to purchase some products to try yourself if you haven’t already and a few samples to pass out and start sharing, but ow much and how you start sharing is all up to you. If you’re interested, shoot me an email (kath at katheats dot com) and let’s chat and see if this might be a good fit for you!
